We have developed this part-time herbal medicine course for healthcare professionals who have no prior knowledge of TCM to meet the increasing demands for training for Chinese herbal medicine. This course consists of a 3-month Foundation Course of basic TCM theory and then a 2-Year Practical Herbal Medicine Diploma.
Our foundation diploma focuses on the basic theories and the share common elements in the practice of Chinese medicine from Yin/Yang and five elements to diagnostic methods and syndrome pattern differentiation. It also emphasises the understanding of the meridian system, the basic treatment principle and lifestyle advice.
The part-time herbal medicine course is run over two years and involves lectures, case studies and clinical practice. In year 1, students will be primarily studying Chinese herbal medicine theory and in year 2, students will have a combination of theory and clinical practice.
Students are required to complete 200 hours of clinical practice time and 200 hours of case studies in order to pass the course. There is also a final examination at the end of the course.
We also offer the option of a 3rd-year study, which converts the diploma into a Masters degree in TCM with the highly esteemed Shanghai University of TCM. For students who already have a Masters degree in Chinese medicine, can study for a PhD degree with the University.
