He studied for six years at the Chinese Medicine department of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from 1986 to 1992. He later studied for his Master’s degree from 1998 to 2000 in the same department.

From 1992 to 2000, Zan Yu Chen was a lecturer of Chinese herbal medicine at BUCM, until he moved to the UK in 2000. Since then, he has been practising at his clinic in Kent.
